The law firm of Elrod Friedman LLP is proud to announce that Greg Smith has joined the firm as a partner, focusing his practice on local government matters and economic development, public incentives, land use, zoning, entitlements, and general real estate transactions and litigation.

Greg’s economic development experience spans a wide range of incentives and public-private partnership structures. He has a deep understanding of, and years of experience in, development incentives including TIFs, special service areas, sales and utility tax sharing, and property tax abatements.  Greg has worked on all aspects of development projects in all real estate sectors including industrial, warehousing, gaming, office, retail, mixed-use, and residential, including affordable housing.

Greg has served as general and special counsel to numerous Illinois local governments, providing astute advice on all aspects of government operations.  He handles real estate transactions including purchases, sales, leases, and license agreements, and also has broad litigation experience in Federal and State courts.

Greg’s extensive legal experience, as well as his broad and deep contacts and relationships with key government representatives throughout Illinois, make him a wonderful addition to the Elrod Friedman land use and municipal law team.
