About Andrew Carlins

Andrew Carlins joined Elrod Friedman in July 2025. He has extensive experience in transactional law in both the public and private sectors, specializing in real estate. Andrew provides counsel to public and private sector clients on a full range of real estate transactions.

He began his legal career in the real estate and transactional law department of a large law firm, working on a broad variety of complex, large-scale mergers and acquisitions.

Over the course of his career, Andrew has negotiated a wide variety of real estate legal documentation including documents pertaining to acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, construction, development, architecture, condominiums, environmental and a variety of other contracts with real estate service providers, contractors and consultants.

Significantly, he has experience working in the private sector in real estate development, facilitating and negotiating some of the largest development deals in the history of Chicago. He has researched, calculated and composed proformas and real estate valuations for a variety of potential real estate projects in both the regional Chicago area and across the United States. Given his business career and education, Andrew has a unique understanding of the intersection of legal and business strategic considerations while negotiating real estate and development transactions.

Due to these experiences, Andrew provides Elrod Friedman clients with sophisticated legal guidance to navigate a broad range of real estate matters.
